Brown stone painted the winding road down.
Echoes of water swam through her ears.
Eventually, she reached a chasm she could not cross.
Despondent, she gave up, throwing herself into the abyss.
She joined the world.
Empty.
A girl fell into a sinkhole in the desert.
Sand and granite joined her in the descent.
Whistling wind whisked past her ears.
Minutes turned to hours in her fall to the end.
She closed her eyes, letting go as she crashed into the bottom.
She joined the world.
Barren.
A girl saw a set of stairs in the woods.
She trespassed down them, marble lining her decline.
Unfamiliar tongues confounded and broke her mind.
At the bottom, she saw a room made of stone faces.
They reached out, grasping her mouth.
She joined the world.
Desolate.
A girl was stolen from the land above.
Blinded by the dark, she couldn’t see her captors.
Growls of creatures long forgotten tormented her.
A light was lit at the bottom of the Earth.
The remnants of those rejected accepted her.
She joined the world.
Abandoned.
A girl watched as the world fell apart.
Cracks raced through the grey around her as she ran down.
Screams wrapped her tight during the final journey.
The lowest depths needed her.
Reaching the foundation, she did what she had to do.
She joined the world.
Alone.
